We've gone Metric

I've been threatening to do
it for years.
No more Imperial tape measures in the cabinet shop, only metric.
Finally, my little piece of the
United States works in millimeters. For a custom cabinetmaker building
European-style cabinets and working with accuracy, it makes too much sense not to
do it.
All of my shop equipment used to
build the cabinets is setup to work best with metric dimensions. The hardware I
use such as hinges and drawer slides is based on the metric system. Even some of the plywoods I use is 18 millimeters thick, not 3/4 inch.
How does
this affect you? It doesn't really. In
communications with clients and other tradesmen I still speak in inches and probably will for the rest of my
life. At least, unless the rest of America converts.
